Nice idea, shame the reality of pushing a fragile high-tech experiment across the Humber was terrible due to the amount of floating debris.

Mention of floating debris reminds me of the only Boeing Jetfoil trip I ever did - from St Katherine's Dock/Pier(?) to Zeebrugge on the short-lived P&O service. There was so much debris in the Thames we had to creep down about as far as Tilbury before we could get up onto the plane (or whatever the correct expression is) and once we were out into the Channel it was so rough we had to slow down! So much for a high speed service.

Did the Seaspeed or Hoverlloyd cross-channel hovercraft once.

    Not a pleasant experience !

i think I might have been on the Clyde hovercraft over to Cumbrae once but can't remember it. A mercifully short run, I guess

I remember when i worked on the Humber Bridge out in the river on the
Cofferdam the amount of floating debris that used to hit us on a high tide.
