Shieldhall part of new initiative putting Southampton’s heritage venues on the map!

A new grouping of Southampton’s heritage venues aiming to promote the City’s rich heritage has been launched. The ‘Southampton Heritage Experience’ has seen SS Shieldhall, Solent Sky, SeaCity and Tudor House, The Hythe Ferry, The Mayflower 400 Project and See Southampton guides collaborate to produce heritage maps and vouchers that will encourage visitors to the city to stay longer. http://www.ss-shieldhall.co.uk/news?item=371

I went to a talk about Shieldhall a few years ago. Fascinating. It's great to see that it is still going, and prospering. Not bad for a Glaswegian stink boat.

I'm not sure that prospering is the right word, but it is great to see that it (or should we say "she" based on the other current thread) is still going. As members of this board will know it operates a business model which is I believe is appropriate for this ship based on the fact that she is not part of a commercial passenger fleet

The Steamship Shieldhall is Britain's largest working steamship. This video introduces her, from her build and working life in the Clyde to her present active retirement based in Southampton.

Heck. They are all coming at once now !

I guess each ship will just have to concentrate on its natural supporters and constituencies rather than a broader approach where some might feel that there are too many steamboat causes all after everyone's money
