The photo is St Columba heading up the Kyles obviously. And has been taken from a CSP steamer, presumably either caley or Jupiter. Question is why would the paddler be there heading that way at that time of day-ie when the St Columba was headed for Tarbert on the morning run.

Isn't she actually heading for the narrows from Tighnabruaich and about head round the North end of Bute on her afternoon "up" run?

As far as I can tell St Columba is on her down run and approaching the narrows from east Kyle

which makes it ca 11am The wake of the obviously LMS design paddler is very hard to explain

Waverley's Round the Lochs cruise passed in that direction but around 1 pm and before WWII

there were early morning sailings from Kyles to Wemyss Bay So I am stumped and unable to explain
